The 9-5 is inferior to the 9000 in the area of rear legroom. It's somewhat heavier, but with a more solid passenger compartment, much better noise and vibration isolation, and more refined handling. I find the standard seats to be disappointing, something which the Aero seats (for 2002 or later) or Sports Seats (2006 and later) correct. I've had a whole lot less trouble with my 9-5 than any of my 9000s (of which I've had many). For me, most of the failure prone areas I've dealt with pro-actively (5000 mile oil changes with synthetic oil, updated PCV and car computer software, IDC recall) and at no cost. Only the SID has actually failed me, and it had the good grace to go bad just before the warranty expired, not after.
The sedan with a trunk obviouisly carries less than the hatchback 9000. Even the wagon will carry only a smidgen more than the 9000, due to all the noise absorbing and decorative interior trim on the wagon, There are far fewer nooks and crannies into which stuff can be - er - stuffed.
The 67K Aero at the dealer's lot has too many miles to qualify for Saab's Certified Used program. Cars must be under warranty, with clean title and at full compliance with Saab's (IMO inadequate) service requirements to be certifiable.
