Metal on metal scraping, Left front after brake service Posted by CrNiFe [Email] (#408) [Profile/Gallery] (more from CrNiFe) on Sat, 19 Aug 2006 21:41:26 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
on my MY99 SW, I had noticed a repetitive sound as I came to a stop. The rotors looked fine, but actually were unevenly worn, so I replaced the front rotor set and got new pads put in.
I thought it would take a day or two to seat the new pads on the rotors, but I was getting a metal on metal scraping noise, driving in gear without brakes applied, and a similar noise with brakes engaged, left front only.
I left it for a while now, 500 miles or so, and it is still making the noise. I am trying to figure out what else could be coming into contact, on the inside of the left front wheel that could cause the noise. It's going back in for service on Monday.
All ideas appreciated. I had a look at my MY05 SW left front today when I was having the tires rotated, and it just isn't apparent to me what would be causing the scraping.
The car brakes nicely, in a straight line.
