I have one of each ('02 9-5 Aero AT, '05 330xi, 6-spd MT). Both have been relatively trouble-free, save for some electronics issues on the Bimmer (navigation system control unit) and seals on the Saab. But the Saab is far roomier than the BMW3--it's more in the league of the 5 in terms of front and rear seat space as well as the trunk. The 9-5 is a great highway cruiser, and the 4-cyl turbo is better on gas than the 3.3 6 in the BMW. The Bimmer's engine, while less torquey, is extremely smooth, and the handling feels more precise. You didn't say if the Bimmer is auto or manual tranny; if the latter, it shifts more smoothly and precisely than any MT car I have ever driven, including the one on my kid's Audi A4. The price on the Saab does sound a tad high, though. Even the Bimmer is a a bid sear for a 5-6 year-old car with that much mileage.
