Ok my 4th Saab 2000 9-5 LPT ( after 99, 86 900T, 97 900S NG) have loved every minute ( yeah of course there were some times but not worth talking about, any car can have issues even a Toyota! My celica lost a Flywheel- but I dogress)
I leased the car with 0.1% money factor bought it off the internet when those companies were paying people to buy thier cars ( and used up all their investors's money just to show revenue - heck, I'll take free money any way I can - had to go to the port in Newark NJ to pick it up, watched them peel the plastic off and paid 30,200 for a car stickered at 37,500. (1.6 Miles on the ODO)
Decided to purchase it off lease for probably too much (Residual and negotiated less 3 payments by buying early, The total of around $16,900 3 yo and 44K miles) and forego the CPO fee of $1400. it was my car and I knew it was well cared for. I brought it in to fix everything at 48K ( SID with one Pixel out intermittantly, new DIC under warranty)
WEll do I wish I had taken the CPO? Maybe, I am out another SID ( will probalby get this one repaired since it lasted from the dealer went for only about a year before some pixels started to go) water pump ( and associated pulleys as precaution), TB - cheap and easy DIY from eEuroparts for a guy who hasn't touched a wrench to a car in a a few years, and a rear Shock unde warrenty. That's it besides brakes. The LPT turbo had puff of Blue for years, ( due to the PVC problem) Just pulled it off for an upgraded T25, my plan anyway -another reason not to get the Warranty. It was going to go but would have made the 100K mark.
Now I have gone crazy with the mods, Jak Stoll built the motor and it runs as smooth as new. If I can stay off the floor with the gas I am sure it can mske 300K now.
Good luck to all you other Saabites out there with your cars and thank you to Saabnet, this board got me back into doing my own work on my car and enjoying it now more than ever.
