I would also like to know the answer to the question. I have not actually tried but it would be nice not to have my knees in the dash with the seat down. most of the times I have wanted the cargo room I have not known ahead of time that I needed it. Thus the seat is there and I am at the store and want to pick up something. So don't want to take the seat out. Also for example if you haul something somewhere and drop it off and then pick up people you would want a seat bottom. I know you can put the seats down with the front seats forward and then move the fronts seats back a good bit but not far enough for a long trip.
