Please, drop the extra n. Sonett, Sonett, Sonett Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Fri, 13 Oct 2006 09:23:14 In Reply to: Thanks,, Jonathan Scupin [Profile/Gallery] , Fri, 13 Oct 2006 07:22:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
After what I understand and please correct me if I'm wrong.
Sonett comes from the two Swedish words "så nätt" (so neat, eng).
So the way we Swedes pronounce så nätt and Sonett sounds exactly the same.
I guess it was too much to ask the world to learn the Swedish letters å and ä so they came up with a more universal spelling.
Other Saabs have sometimes been called by their nick names instead of model names like the stroker or Monte Carlo.
I remember back in the days in Sweden that we never spoke of the 95 or the 96 but always said the två taktare (two stroker) or V4 and then just added stations vagn or Kombi (station wagon) after to describe the body style if it was a 95.
If you just threw out the word V4, everyone knew you were talking about the 96 sedan.
