SAAB 9-5 sound system - Aftermarket products required Posted by Peter [Email] (#2804) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Peter) on Wed, 13 Dec 2000 04:43:39 In Reply to: SAAB 9-5 sound system, Dave Brown, Sat, 9 Dec 2000 12:00:20 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Since I consider myself something of and audiophile, I simply must say You need aftermarket products in order to achive HiFi quality sound in any car on the market today. When it comes to the SAAB 9-5(I myself own a 9-5 Aero Wagon -00), You are best off excluding the spare and installing a sub in the spare compartment. I constructed a sealed closure using plastic, fiberglass and medium density fiberboard. You can actually achive quite good volume for the sub to work in (Approx 45-50 Liters). I fitted a 15" Rockford Fosgate Power woofer, and it totally rocks. I also refitted the speakers in front with a DLS Ultimate 36 Kit(6.5", 2.5", 1"), mouting the 6.5" in the original mounting holes in the front doors and fitted the 2.5" on top of the Dashboard and the tweeters on the A-beams above the dash. I also changed headunit, disabled all other original speakers and fitted two amps(DLS Genesis Dual Mono) next to the sub in the trunk, all hidden under the original trunk floor. Now this is a soundsystem which sounds great, clarity all throug, and kick-ass power in the subregions. Please email me if You want further information, I'm also thinking about putting a site together with some pics from the install.
