Get the error code(s) read and then come back to this board for more detailed info. You can do it for free at any autozone store. Or just buy a code reader - they are not expensive these days.

Right now my feeling is that you may have a dead catalytic converter. It is very common for a seller to reset the codes and sell the car. It takes about 3 days of driving to trigger the catalytic converter code again and by that time it becomes the buyer's problem.
