same thing happened to me. the pressure techique (ball point pen, paint brush) seems hit or miss.
Use a fabric iron set to "cotton" and "iron" the connection. I did and get 100% pixels. (in the heat and humidity of the NC summer this lasts about 3 weeks before I have to do it again, now with the cooler weather it seems to be holding)
I would not use a soldering iron, if you damage the cable in any way you are done and you will need a new SID (~350 I think)
