I would be interested in your mileage back to Billings. I have driven that stretch more times than I can count and always get better mileage going back to Billings. From an elevation standpoint, the drive from Billings (3100ft ) to Bozeman (4700 ft ) is, on average, 'uphill' the whole way. Also, there always seems to be at least some wind from Yellowstone park to Livingston then in your face to a least Big Timber. It is geographic phenomenon and quite legenday. Both may be contributing factors.
