Changing the vehicle height through different tires or a suspension modification my give you handling characteristics you hadn't planned on.
Suspension design is a complicated process that balances many variables. Changing one of the variables such as the height of the tires used may detract from other desireable qualities such as dry road handling and tire wear.
I may be in the minority...I believe that if your going to modify one aspect of your suspension you may end up with new undesirable qualities that you hadn't anticipated. I don't believe that experimenting with your families safety is what you had in mind.
