Speedometer Accuracy vs. GPS

I know it has been said that the speedometer is off by a few mph, so I thought I would check for myself. I recently bought a Garmin Nuvi gps and I checked the odometer vs. the gps speed. When setting cruise control to 60, 65, 70, and 75 mph the gps reported miles per hour were actually 3 mph slower. I realize this is a fairly unscientific experiment, but what had been previously reported seems to be true. By the way, I tested this last week with my 225 45 17's and this week with my 215 55 16 snow tires - both were exactly the same. I find myself driving 3 mph faster now. : )
