9-5 reverse problem

My 2000 9-5 Aero (with manual tranny) began having problems getting into reverse. I've read many posts here about others with similar problems (needing to roll the car back to get it in reverse, etc). I've had the issue diagnosed at a Saab specialty shop as an problem with the reverse gear that is a manufacturing issue and not anything to do with linkage, fluid, etc. I've been told (can't find anything on SaabNet) that Saab pro rated or helped customers out with transmission repair in the past...any ideas or suggestions? I think it's ridiclous that any vehicle with 70,000 miles (especially a $38,000 Saab) should be having transmission problems.
Thanks!
