The pros are that you get a synthetic oil (albeit Group III) with a robust additive package in what some (myself included) consider to be the ideal weight for these engines at a good price. The cons are that Rotella T Synthetic does not meet the current API standard of CJ-4/SM, but remains an CI-4+/SL rated oil (it is supposed to be updated by Fall 07); what this means is that the oil has a fairly high level of phosphorous content, which may (over time) be potentially detrimental to your catalytic converter (the introduction of cat-equipped diesels is what is pushing reduction in phosphorous content in CJ-4/SM oils). Personally, I am unconcerned by the potential phosphorous issue, but it is a theoretical consideration, especially if your car burns oil.
I use RTS in my 99 lpt with a 5k mile OCI and am very happy with it.
