You know, the thing that makes me mad about filters is that none of the manufacturers give us, the consumer, apples-to-apples data on filter quality based on Industry testing standards.
Mobil says they are 99.2% efficient per SAE J1858. But what particle size?
Amsoil says 98.7% efficient at 15 microns per ISO 4548-12. 15 microns isnt a standard size under other testing methods.
Wix lists the Beta ratio in some cryptic equation (like "2/20=21/37") which is a measurement based on ISO 16889 (but they dont say that).
And this is just three of the major brands out there. Why cant these jokers all pick a darn testing standard and give us some meaningful data!!!
Until then we will be arguing on which is better based on anecdotal data (ie. "I have always liked brand xxx because I have 643,000 miles on my car")
This isnt just an issue here. I have been on many messageboards over the years (including old school Usenet Newsgroups)and this is ALWAYS a debate with no resolution, ever...
