I bought cheap DIN Radio Removal tools at Wal-Mart which have semi-circular notches machined into them. Trying to pull the radio out using these resulted in the tool pulling out of the still-in-place radio, because the barb on the radio chassis would ride up the radiused profile of the notch and pop out.
I simply used a small file to change the notch profile from semi-circular to a square notch, and now my tools work fine.
Try your tools first. They sound better than what I got for only $4. Modify the tools later if they pull out of the radio.
