I once tried teh PIAA extreme whites in my 199 9-3. They provided poor lighting and both burned out in short time. They cost mucho dollars, what a disappointment, to be polite!!! I have used the GE nigthhawks in teh outboard halogens along with teh Xenon's on my 2002 9-5 and they seem to work well with auper lighting on high beam. I have never used silver stars so I cannot comment. DO NOT use any of the "white" faux xenon bulbs, use proper halogens, this will give best lighting performance. I have always found Hella;s to be of high quailty and long lasting. I have use overwattage hellas H4's in my 9-3 and they worked quite well, I am hesitant to use overwattage bulbs in the projector style lamps in my new 2006 9-5 because of heat damage concerns. I have a set of Osram H7 ultras in my high beams the have H9 burners on and H7 base. they are higher lumens then stock h7's but I am not sure I can see any benefit. they might work better though in thenon project type high beam lamps of pre 2006 9-5's. from my experience I would recommend the GE nighthawks. much better price then PIAA as well.
