For the 9-5 at least, the Pxxx codes for Saab are different than GM. Even if your tool doesn't interpret the codes to text, you can always post a message here and someone will be able to interpret for you. So if all you want to do is read and clear fault codes, one of the cheapie tools should do the job. But keep in mind that the more expensive tools generally do offer additional data in addition to the fault codes.
