It is extremely common for rows or columns of pixels to disappear over time in the SID (Saab Informaiton Display). I have endured two such failures in my 2000, and each time I waited about a year from onset of the initial misisng line until the display degraded so bad I couldn't stand it any more and took corrective action.

You can buy a new display for nearly $300 after core charge - I did this the first time.

You can send your failed display off to Guy Senesac (check classifieds here) and he will repair the failed circuitry under a microscope for $95 - I did this the second time.

You can attempt to fix it yourself for nearly no cost by using foam tape, or a soldering pencil, or a ball point pen to increase pressure/reattach the failed display to circuit board ribbon cable attachment internal to the SID. I tried to do this the first time, destroyed my SID in the process, and then had to buy a new one. Search on the board for SID repair or similar term to find the instructions.
