The knob does not make the Saab

I can't think of anything less important than the appearance of the knobs or whether they're used in another car. I would much prefer the GM style controls to the array of buttons I have in my 2000.

Using common components reduces cost and improves serviceability. As long as the parts perform these are good things.

I hope GM continues making Saabs more efficiently. If that means sharing a knob with a humble econobox, I am glad their designers are not too proud to take that step.
