Its been a while and my memory of it is a little shaky.
IIRC, I slightly bent 1 retainer (the one that locks the blade in place) to release the end and then slid the blade out. I then removed the aluminum spline on both sides of the old blade and attached them to the new one. Trimmed to proper length, slid it back in, bent retainer to re-secure the blade and all was good. One piece of advice, use a rubber coated plier or wrap it with something. I think I chipped off some of the paint/coating when I bent mine with my pliers (minor aesthetic blemish though).
