what frequency do you get your oil tested?

I totally agree that an oil test is the way to go, but just wondering:

say I test the oil at 4k and it comes back "good". Based on the test results will I know that I can go to 6k (for example)? or do I need to continue to test, every 1k , until I get a bad result?

btw fixmysaab.com is a great site, thanks for all the work you and Royce put into it.
