I have a 2006 9-5 non-sport model with about 5,500 miles, and I love it. I moved up from a 2003 9-3SS Linear model.
I love the pull of the 260 hp engine over my old 9-3 linear - it's almost scary fast when you hit the gas - but it's great the way the car seems to just squat down and launch! The 9-3 is always touted as being the car that's better "in the twisties" than the 9-5, but I'm very impressed with the 2006 9-5 suspension improvements and have really not noticed a difference from my 9-3. To me, I would choose the GM "parts-bin" radio with it's XM receiver, internal 6-cd changer (that can read mp3 discs), auxilliary input for my iPod, etc. over the old Saab radio in my 9-3. The harman-kardon sound is excellent and provides lots of bass (if so desired) without producing any interior rattles. It's very intuitive and easy to use as well, as are the rotary climate controls.
I went with the non-Aero mostly because I prefer the look of the wood veneer dash over the "aluminum" Aero trim. This is strictly a personal preference. I'm very happy with the non-sport suspension.
The interior is extremely confortable, even when hauling four adults for longer distances. My passengers have commented on how comfortable the backseat area is and how much they enjoy the rear heated seats.
My '06 has been very reliable in the six months that I have owned it - I have not had a single problem. The only item that I am having fixed under warranty is an area above the driver's side window where the headliner has popped out from under the door-trim. The dealer is ordering a replacement with no hassle, so I really don't consider this a big deal.
Good luck in your decision. Let me know if you have any questions.
