Wow. I just got my fourth Saab, a polar white 9-5 auto in standard form with the 'visibility package'. My previous Saabs were 97' 900 Convt, 02' 9-5, and 05' 9-5. I gotta say this new 9-5 is really an awesome car, and to my taste, by far my best Saab yet. I always liked the handling/suspension of the new 9-3SS and I feel like they've brought that spirit/feel to the 06'/07' 9-5. I think it's a real improvement in handling and suspension. Engine feels very powerful and stable, but, honestly, some of the fun of feeling the turbo spikes is muted a bit. However, definitely has that 'get the hell outta the way' feel!

The freshening with the polar white has already gotten some comments from strangers. The sides and back are especially elegant in white, we think. The front is a little wild, but the white tones down the new chrome a bit. We really like the heavy contrast of the new interior where the BMW-like black dash and door soft plastics contrast so nicely with the parchment leather. Very sharp. (The GM turn knobs are a little too GMish but the overall design of their placement and shape is very good.) I miss the orange and black speedometer, and feel they could've aesthetically kept color scheme, which seems so Saab to me, but the new dash is good, noentheless. New Bose stereo is freaking awesome!!! Far superior to the upgraded Harmon Kardon I feel. My new Shins album and my 'Nixon in China' opera from John Adams have had the best playings of their lives so far. 'The people are the heroes now, behemoth pulls the peasants plow...'is nicely ironic from the 9-5 driver's seat.

Right, my habitual complaint of the lnoise level of the preious 9-5 door locks is at least down to the levels of the old 1980s diesel Mercedes;)

Backseat and front are ridiculously spacious. I don't know for sure, but I feel the back is even larger than my previous two 9-5s. (The recent poster saying that it was similar to the new A-4 is way, way off. To me even the 9-3SS is bigger than the A-4.)

Anyway, really loving it!

Jon
