Cannot be the calipers unless fluid is flowing out. Level ok?
If the brake fluid has not been changed often enough, the MC bore may be rusted and large rust growth deposits will cut the cup seals. The result first shows up as you have noted, but gets worse.
When someone replaces the pads/rotors and pumps the brake to the floor to advance the caliper pistons, the rust can damage the seals and these problems can thus occur after such work is done. NEVER stroke the petal to the floor, put a piece of 2x4 behind the petal to prevent that when doing brake work or bleeds. Note that bleeding the brakes can lead to this damage. So you can see how the way the petal goes to the floor for you now simply can make the process snowball from bad to worse.
One way or the other, the fluid is leaking out of the vehicle or past the MC cup seals.
I remove the fluid from the brake reservoir every year and replace with new. That remove the moisture from the source of contamination. These vented reservoirs are insane!!! If not vented, the fluid will not get moist! Also replace the fluid at the reservoir before you bleed. NEVER pump old fluid from the reservoir all through the system.
