Oil above/around drain plug

I was under the car today doing the first self oil change on our 2003 Aero which to date has had all its changes done at the dealership. Looks pretty good under there, but there was some fresh looking oil that appeared to have seeped from somewhere above the oil pan. It wasn't coming from the drain plug (that was on WAY too tight I might add) but somewhere above..
Normal, or should I be concerned?
