side mirror repair

Hi All,
The side mirror on our 2001 9-5 Aero was clipped by a bus. The hinge on the mirror managed to protect the entire piece from breaking off and it's still attached to the car in a normal fashion. Only the mirror itself and the black plastic housing that surrounds the mirror is broken.
We brought the car to a repair shop for an estimate. They're telling us that the entire mirror, included the housing, motor, and painted piece needs to be replaced and that the pieces for the black plastic and the mirror can't be replaced separately.
Is this true? If not, where could I order these pieces and how do I figure out what part #s to order?
thanks!
