Great info - thanks for all of this. Does the finished product look as "shiny" as the original BBS finish? Aside from that, the wheel refinisher I contacted wants $200 per wheel to do the powder coating - I could buy some decent looking new wheels for that kind of $$. Would I be better off disassembling the thing myself and finding a powder-coating shop to refinish it? As it was described to me, first the pieces have to be "dipped" in some kind of solution to prepare them for the powder coating. I'll admit that I know next to noting about all of this.
I had a chance to take a look at a straightforward wheel refinishing job on some Saab 9-5 alloys from 2006. They looked absolutely flawless - just like new, in fact. I'm going to shoot a couple pix of my finish-damaged BBS wheels and email them to the wheel guy to see what he thinks he can do short of powder coating. I personally don't think much can be done without first disassembling the, though.
