here is what I do:
- power steering: I suck out the reservoir and replace with clean fluid every 10k or so (every other oil change). this is not as thorough as a flush, but helps to get some of the contaminants out. This takes about 3 minutes.
- brake fluid: I flush the hydraulic system every 15 or 20k. I do a full flush using a pressure bleeder. takes me about an hr.
- transmission fluid: I did a full flush at 60k and now drain and fill (which replace about 4 quarts of the 11 total) at each oil change. it adds about 5 minutes to the oil change.
btw I think that my tranny drain/fill interval is excessive and I may begin to stretch this interval out more. I will be interested to hear what other folks say about this.
