It might just be your alternator. I replaced my battery back in Feb. Then recently it seemed that the blower ran when it wanted to. I've had a number of problems with the car recently. Ignition module replaced, crank sensor replaced.

Last week Thursday, I had a tough time getting her started and she was asking for coolant. I stopped off at the dealer on the way to work and picked up coolant. She was running fine and I didn't have time to wait for her to cool so I went to work and then home. Then Friday on the way home, I got stuck in traffic and the car started to overheat. Got myself to Sears. Let her cool and added coolant/water. Then she would not start. Great guys at Sears; they gave me a free jump. On the way home, she starts to overheat and asks for coolant again.

Then Thurs. night, I went to get some seltzer from the cargo area. Hatch would not seem to lock on it's own. I jumped into the car and started it. Battery indicator came on. The car seemed to start, so the next morning I tried to get her to work. Bad, bad idea. A quarter of the way to work, in stagnant traffic the battery indicator began to dim and things began shutting down one by one. ABS, TCS, etc. I barely got her off the road and into someone's yard and could have hit a tree as it was difficult to stop her on an incline. Over the past week I had asked the dealer and an indy what was wrong and that there had been battery/electrical issues. Neither could find a problem. Now for the cost of a tow, they know it's the alternator. I don't see why they could not of at least guessed at that. My mother did and she doesn't even like cars.

Anyway, the alternator will cost $770 and they said they may need to replace my brand new battery. Don't understand the battery replacement. This is on top of the $733 to replace the coolant bypass valve last week. Oh yes, and the $900 a few weeks ago for the ignition module and crank sensor.

I love the car, but man, the costs are absolutely killing me. I guess I still get her fixed because it is still cheaper than the crazy car payments I see some of my co-workers with. I hope it's worth it for them. If figure that $3000 is still cheaper than a used Hyundai that I probably wouldn't even like. Many people say, "Why pay so much on a used car. Buy a new one." Because you're probably paying the same per year, probably even for a lesser car. I think my car is a solid car. What I see manufacturer's putting into cars nowadays, well, pretty soon we'll be driving around in $60K lunchboxes.
