is the first thing you need. I would think 100 to drop the pan and check. I have not do this but others on the board have and to clean it up you would want the screen cleaned or replaced. The issue is not the the build up is there, it is when the oil can no longer push through the screen and stopps flowing. I think/hope this issue is slightly over rated. I have a 99 with 155k and seems to run but have not taken the time to drop the pan. Reg oil every 5k since 140k who knows what it got before that. I think the cars that have issues have 15k oil changes and that is the real issue. Worked a car rental place and we had a lumina with 15k locked engine, never had the oil changes.
