A few months ago, my 99 SAAB 9-5 decided to leave me stranded on the side of the Highway. After getting it back home and with suggestions from this group I pulled and replaced the Turbo. Once I pulled the turbo, I could tell that it was bad. However upon putting everything back together, the car still would not run, again following suggestions from this group I replaced the Cat, but was still getting smoke and could not drive it. Thinking that the mufflers were bad I dropped it off Friday at a shop to have them replaced. But upon checking he found that there was no restriction on the exhaust however he was able to read the codes (something I can’t do.) The codes I am getting are 0300 and 1300. My understanding is this is multiple misfires, and something about the Primary coil.
When I had the turbo off I replaced the Plugs and changed the oil. I still want to replace the filters but have not gotten that far yet. The plugs did not look bad, and I put Mobile 1 synthetic in the oil.
Could something have been left lose during the replacement of the turbo to cause this? Could the turbo have been bad (one of the compression blades was off and in parts) without me realizing it until something else failed? What would be the most likely cause of these two codes?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Right now I have to drive my van (ten miles to the gallon) everywhere averaging about 75 miles a day, and would really like to get my SAAB back before gas prices get any worse.
Thanks Ed
