Hi Folks,
My '02 aero (70k miles) blows only slightly cool air, and I could use a little help figuring where to look for problems next.
I recharged the R134 and have verified that the low and high pressure sides read normally (at idle). When I refilled it a few weeks ago, the system was at atmospheric pressure. I added refridgerant with UV dye and have so far only seen dye on the high pressure valve. The extent to which the 134 is leaking is a bit of an aside as it has not leaked out substantially since the recharge.
I also replaced the cabin filter, and have done the auto/off recalibration, and the ACC does not read any error codes.
So, I'm a bit stumped since the pressures read correctly. Though I do notice that there is a noticable whir from the compressor (or clutch?) when it is running (RPM dependent pitch) - louder than any air con compressor I've heard before, but not louder than the ACC fans on high.
I haven't been able to hear the whirring when checking the refrigerant pressure, only from the car interior.
Does this ring a bell with anyone?
Thanks,
Ethan Schartman
