mechanical inspection at dealer or indy?

Question regarding mech. inspection of used vehicle:

I am looking at a used 2.3 I4, linear 9-5 sedan from a private party, Carfax is clean, but I was seriously thinking to have the car checked out by a mechanic. The private party (only owners and Saab enthusiasts) have all the service records from either local Saab dealer or other nearby dealership.

I don't know/trust any indy mechanics and local Saab dealer wants $117 to inspect vehicle (is that expensive?). I know already that the tires will need replacing by winter and the SID needs fixing (partially faded). It had the 60 K service done, and is around 90K miles atm.

At that point would it be worth the trip to Saab dealership mechanic? Or skip it and roll the dice?? Simply run up to an Autozone and pull codes??

Recommendations??
