2001 Aero purchase inspection

I'm planning to look at a 2001 Aero for a possible purchase. It's got 80,000 some miles on it. Reading through the board, there's the handfull of common issue to watch for...
1. SID pixels - pretty easy, they're either all there or they're not.
2. DI Cassette - most likely by now it's been replaced at least once... (or maybe it will need to be replaced next week?)
3. Service updates - SHOULD have been picked up at the dealer, since the owner claims that all the service has been done there. (Sevice records will confirm that)
4. SLUDGE! This is the one that concerns me most. Is there any non-invasive way to tell if there are sludge issues either on site while test driving the car? Is it an involved process for a mechanic to do. I'm assuming it's more involved than the typical "pre-purchase vehicle inspection" that dealers offer. But how involved? in other words, is the seller really going to want my indy SAAB mechanic to start taking things apart?
