As many report here, I am experiencing cupping on the inside of the rear tires. I run different tires/wheels summer & winter, so I do rotate and watch tire pressure. The OEM tires went around 41K and were replaced by Dunlops. Since then I had the 16" winter tires replaced by Nokian RSi tires at a nearby Tire Factory (they were also badly cupped). The in-house alignment technician indicated that SAAB does NOT specify any adjustment for the rear camber but that it was -3.4 deg, and therefore out of spec by a couple of degrees (the left side was -1.9 deg). I called these guys & was told that they have a $50K machine and update the info monthly - yada, yada. Guy I talked with suggested it could be a suspension problem but recommended against using after-market shims on an "up scale" car. He also indicated that Nokian has addressed this type of problem with an asymmetric tread design in their "i3" tire, but it doesn't seem to be produced for 16" or 17" tires. I've seen many comments on this issue but little definitive direction in addressing this fairly widespread cupping problem.
