I am having the same issue with my 1999 Sportswagon. My dealer quoted $800 for replacement of the ACC Resistor and Fan Blower Motor. My indie quoted $1500, as he said the evaporator was the problem. Either price has made for a hot summer so far. I would love to buy a resistor as it sounds as if it might be cheap and the ones I've seen for other Saabs are a simple plug in module, and install it myself to see if that is the only problem, but is this easy to do and are there instructions? I don't want to bust anything up and I've heard about the risks of installing the blower motor yourself.
I'm discovering that the blower being out is not simply an issue of comfort, but safety, as well. With the windows open for air, you can be hit by road debris on the highway with no protection (knock on wood). A DOT worker got killed on the highway a few weeks ago by a tire from a truck as he was working along side of the road, so anything can happen. You can't defog the windows when you need to (this is really bad too as I was driving in pouring rain the other day and had to keep the windows closed, but couldn't see well).
Anyway, whatever help (diagrams, too) that anyone can share would give us some safety and relief from this muggy weather.
Thanks
