Mileage Mystery With Garret to Mitsu TD04 Turbo Upgrade

After research, and talking with Jak Stol I courageously ordered a Mitsu (Aero) turbo to replace my burned out Garret.
The mystery is that I have never broket 27 MPG while crusing on the I5 over 60. Never. Yesterday I am cruising down the highway at 65 getting 35 consistently! After repeated resets of my SPD0 button. I am pleasantly surprised but befuddled. Is it possible to get too good of mileage? Am I running a lean condition (like in a piston aircraft) and am going to run too hot and burn up?
I usually run premium (92) but filled up at Shell with 89 octane and saw jump to great mileage right after that. Is it possible that I have hit on some great combo of the Mitsu with Shell's 89 octane that is efficiency nirvana?
My upgrade included replacing the air intake with the $17 replacement so the whole intake is definitly breating easier, but this is amazing.
Another funny thing is that when I bump it up to 75 mph, the mileage drops to 25 per gallon or so. Is it possible that the transmission is going out of "lock up" when I am going faster? Is it possible to tweak the transmission to stay in lockup under a little more torque?
