New TB Installed - Old TB Seals look Funky Posted by NCSaab [Email] (#973) [Profile/Gallery] (more from NCSaab) on Thu, 26 Jul 2007 18:35:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I 'won' a new TB from evilbay & it arrived today. The whole R&R took about 45 minutes or so.
When I was cleaning off the old one I noticed that the seal between the plastic motor shroud and the aluminum housing had swelled terribly. This was to the point where it was poking out from between the plastic mounting tabs and the housing. This looked like it had exposed enough of the 'sealed' area to the open environment where moisture/crud/oil could have gotten inside the plastic motor housing. Obviously not good for the life of the TB.
I had installed PCV fix #6 about halfway through the life of this TB (70kmiles total). I'll be keeping an eye on oil deposits around the seal area from now on.
