Yes, I have an oil pressure gaauge in my 2000 9-5 Aero. Actually, it's a combination oil pressure/voltmeter gauge. I obtained it from SPA Technique http://www.spatechnique.com/. In the past I've also used VDO gauges with success.
I'v always had an oil pressure gauge in Saabs I've owned; I consider it essential, and like you, I believe that the idiot light is the kiss of death. The switch that operates the idiot light closes when oil pressure drops below 6 PSI; if you're driving on the highway and the idiot light goes on you have a very serios problem. On the 9-5 38 PSI is the norm at 2000 RPM. I've always retained the idot light functionality when I install an oil pressure gauge.
