2000 9-5 No Crank

Hello, looking for some advice.
Yesterday went out to start my 2000 9-5, 2.3 LPT Automatic Transmission Sedan, and just got a starter clunk sound. Tried to jumpstart, but still the same. Bypassed the NSS with the paperclip and still no start. Tried lightly tapping the starter with a rubber mallet and no change. The starter solenoid appears to be getting voltage as I hear it closing and opening, and the starter itself feels warm to the touch. Sounds like a starter to me and I will confirm voltage when I get it up on stands to pull it out.
The problem I encountered, and I really hope it's not this, but I put a socket and breaker bar on the crank pulley to see if I could turn the engine, and I couldn't get it to budge. I had the tranny in neutral. I really hope the engine is not seized somehow. My question is can an engine be running fine the night before when it's shut down, and 12 hours later somehow seize up? There was no oil pressure light or any other indication of engine problem. Can a starter that's seized and engaged in the flywheel make an engine appear to be seized? At this point I will feel lucky if it's just the starter and only $200.00 or so.
Thanks for any input/advice.
Dave
