It was about four hours of leisurely fiddling, having never done it before. I removed the exhaust from the turbo and removed the rubber supports behind the cat, and disconnected the O2 sensors to let the downpipe hang down and move from side to side. Removed the heat shield and bypass valve tube to access the downpipe bolts. Removed the splash pan/pulley guard. Jacked up under the transmission with the car on ramps to gain necessary clearance. Drained oil, pulled and cleaned the pan and strainer. Replaced everything, new oil pickup O-ring, Permatex Anaerobic Flange Sealant (purple and smelly), put all tools away, showered, and done.
The Corvair is my long term project - 1965 Corsa convertible, 4-carb 140hp 4speed, white top, black interior. Needs engine build/install, top install, interior install.
