2000- 9.5- 99k- v6
*** was the timing belt replaced at 60k (free by Saab) and the tensioner as well (owner pays...) - ESSENTIAL to avoid engine destruction if problems happen with the belt.
Test drove this car yesterday, very clean. Turbo was just replaced by eurosport mechanic/dealer
*** Yep, tiny turbo (similar to 4cyl LPT) is short lived.
Here are the problems I noticed...
Rear shocks seem to be bouncy.
*** after 99k it's to be expected. Rears are short lived.
SID has a couple of pixels out, not bad.
*** Common, there is a DIY fix that sometimes works (search here).
Gislaved Nordic Frost tires, fronts are new, rears are worn.
*** Winter tires. New ones should be on rear.
Passenger window rattles (metal to glass) when down half way.
*** Common. Not sure of fix as I haven't had this one yet.
Drivers side seat base seems to rock, maybe off the track or loose?
*** Slight seat movement is reported. Not sure if yours is 'typical' (can feel seat move on braking or wiggling in seat) or worse.
Winter tires also seem very noisey, is this common? I was thinking it might be a bearing but wheels seems tight no play.
*** Tires can make a terrible noise, especially winters. Rotate the new ones to the rear and see if the noise changes.
Brakes seemed soft, but pads have more than 50% of the meat left, how responsive should these brakes be?
*** Depends on the pads. Stock pads are aggressive and wear rotors fast. Some aftermarket pads are intended more for quiet/long life and leave the braking as a second priority.
