Check engine and a new sound Posted by Joe [Email] (#444) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Joe) on Sat, 6 Oct 2007 05:19:57 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a 2000 9-5 wagon with 3.2lpt. I was driving on the highway the other night and I hear a new noise. It sounds like someone blowing on a jug in one of those hillbilly bands. The noise is faint and seems to come when I am accelerating between 2500 and 3000 rpm. It does not do it all the time, so I can't reproduce it at will. The car runs fine and the mileage on the SID seems normal.
When I got home from this trip the check engine light came on. I tightened the gas cap, but I have only driven once since. Light is still on. I will drive the car twice today.
Any idea on the noise?
Does anyone on the list have any experience (good or bad) with inexpensive code readers or scan tools ($49-$99)?
Drive Safe,
Joe
