Should I try it???

Hey all,
I bought a used 2000 9-5 aero in July. It only came with one key and remote. A locksmith next to the local Saab dealer tried programming 2 keys to no avail and said he never had that happen before. I ended up ordering one from the dealer. My question is, if I try the whole ordering a key blank and buying a used all-in-one remote on Ebay, will it be a problem for the dealer to program it? Did the key I got from the dealer come from the factory preprogrammed or did the dealer do it? (I didn't ask) I'd really like to get rid of the "big" remote if possible. Thanks.
