I guarantee it's the DIC. On a 2000 the DIC's are the old faulty ones, but they didn't have enough failure cases in 2000 to include it in the recall. I would replace both if you can afford to. They're $170 each. Whatever you do, DON'T try to start it or drive it. You will ruin other stuff like the $1500 catalytic converter. (I have a 2001 V6 that the DIC failed on- I learned the hard way). They're SO easy to do by yourself it's silly. Remove the "SAAB V6" engine cover with the torx set in the trunk. Then there are 4 torx screws on each DIC, undo the plug and pull them out slowly.
