You may shed further light on the problem as follows.
After you've made an attempt to start.....
- Remove the dust cap from the valve on the fuel rail.
- Depress the pin in the center...momentarily
IF YOU GET A ROBUST SPRAY OF FUEL the pump and fuel filter are probably OK. Remember, this is a SIMPLE crude test....no pressure gauge, just a dirty fingernail. Oh yes, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO IGNITE....this is not Mythbusters here.
IF YOU DO NOT GET A ROBUST SPRAY OF FUEL....but instead get a little or none. The fuel pump may be the culprit (likely)....or the fuel filter could be clogged (not as likely...they don't usually clog completely at one time). More diagnosis is necessary under this scenario...verify that the fuel pump is getting power to pump. If it is....the fuel pump is the likely culprit.
