9-5 Aero: Some really good 2007 Aero's are still available. That's how I got mine. And, there is no significance difference between the 2007 and the 2008.
9-3 Aero: Things geta little trickier here. The 2004-2005 9-3 Aero had 210 hp......just like the 9-3 ARC of 2007-2008. Because of the big change for the 9-3 2008 a new 2007 ARC can had for a very good price. I've seen a new 2007 9-3 ARC with stick for $22,999!
The point is, don't dismiss the notion of a new 9-5 or 9-3 out of hand. 36K mile of free service and a 100K mile drivetrain warranty is costly to duplicate. Also, if things wear out or break it's on Saab for the first 50K miles!
My own experience: I started out almost decided that I would buy a 2005 9-5 ARC with only 16K miles on the odometer. Then, I checked out an equivalent new 2007 9-5.....It was only $1,500 more after the 100K warranty contract and XM radio were factored in. After that it was a modest leap to the 2007 9-5 Aero that I bought.
Conclusion: Even if you find a used 9-3 or 9-5 Aero that you love, look at the equivalent in a new 2007. Note that a 2007-2008 9-3 Aero and a 2004-2005 9-3 Aero are NOT equal. The newer 9-3 has a 260 HP V6; the earlier 9-3 Aero has a 4 cylinder 210 HP engine.....really more equivalent to the 2007 9-3 ARC.
