Hi all:

Short question: Does the PCV upgrade offer any noticeable performance benefits?

Longer backstory: I drive a 1999 2.3LPT that was actually built in 1998. My trusted mechanics (both dealership and indy) have told me that this particular year's engine configuration avoided all of the pitfalls with sludging and the repeated PCV fixes, and that the PCV upgrade is not essential. I'm all about preventative maintenance and staying ahead of any problems. My indy-- and I trust this guy-- did tell me that in the interests of preventative maintenance, maybe I should eventually get the upgrade, no harm done there-- but no big rush. I should point out that on my last visit to the shop, I had the valve cover pulled, and there was zero signs of sludge.

So... reading some of the entries here, some folks do seem to notice an uptick in performance with the #6 fix. The 1999's only cranked out 170bhp, so any performance boost would be a nice bonus.

Any input?
