Purchase Question: Aero Wagons

We've got a '99 9-5 5-speed w/ 150K and have been told we'll need the transmisson rebuilt in order to have the reverse synchro problem fixed. Maybe time to cut our losses.
We've decided to start looking at newer 5-speed Aero wagons. Having had a '99 9-3 and '99 9-5, I know there where several issues that were omnipresent in the '99 era. Could anyone give me insight into whether issues like the ACC broken flaps, the missing pixels on the SID, or the Direct Ignition strip, were improved by the '04-'05 generation of 9-5s?
Also, given that I've never owned an Aero, is there anything (potential problems) I should look for when looking at one?
Thanks
